Who will benefit?

 

We have developed this course to enable people who wish to conduct formal, structured coaching and mentoring relationships within their organisation, to develop the necessary skills and understanding that will facilitate and support those relationships.

 

Core Skills and Learnings

 

The Coaching with Confidence course is run over a 6 month period and is highly interactive, based upon experiential learning.

 

The journey begins with a four day learning opportunity, during which, delegates will be introduced to and practice the tools and skills which will enable them to become great coaches.  There is a particular emphasis on delegate participation, allowing lots of time for practice and reflection.

 

During the 6 months that follow, each delegate will gain hands on learning and development by conducting coaching meetings with 2 learners.  Delegates will have access to support and advice via the telephone or e-mail during this time.  A final evaluation day, bringing all delegates together again, enables delegates to share their reflections, get 180-degree feedback from colleagues and clarify uncertainties.  This process significantly improves the transition and embedding of acquired skills back into the workplace.

 

On completion of the course, delegates will:

 

·         Understand the context of coaching and mentoring and business drivers

·         Have a full appreciation of the ethical assumptions of coaching and mentoring

·         Be able to initiate a coaching relationship

·         Understand and be able to elicit learning styles and lifestyle choices

·         Have the skills necessary for great rapport building

·         Have understood and practiced Active listening

·         Understand the application of and developed skills around the Hierarchy of Ideas Model

·         Develop great questioning skills

·         Understand how to write and achieve challenging and well-formed goals

·         Know how to develop an excellent personal development plan

·         Be able to offer motivational feedback

·         Develop recording techniques

·         Have an understanding of the principles and application of emotional intelligence

·         Have developed successful coaching relationships with 2 learners

·         Understand the value of coaching supervision
