What is NLP?
Here's a plain English guide...
Neuro-Linguistic Programming or NLP has its roots in the mid 1970s, when John Grinder, a Professor of Linguistics, and Richard Bandler, student of psychology, came together at the University of California at Santa Cruz. Together, they studied the work of some of the most eminent therapist of the time, including Fritz Perls (founder of Gestalt Therapy), Virginia Satir (a prominent family therapist) and the great Hypnotherapist, Milton Erickson. In-depth studies of the linguistic patterns used by the therapists they studied provided them with a model of excellence which formed the foundation of the NLP we recognise today. Over the past 40 years, NLP has developed into a highly effective methodology for modeling excellence and creating exciting change in yourself and others. NLP is founded on the principle that all behaviour is driven by a psychological pattern which can be identified, modified and learned to create the outcomes that you choose and add choice to your life. By replacing your own unhelpful, habitual thought processes with those employed by successful people, you will be able to emulate that success and get what you want from life. NLP is most simply described as an instruction manual for the mind. We were all born without an instruction manual and have learned what we have learned as a result of the actions of and interactions with our family, friends, teachers and experiences. However, no matter what you think you are, you are more than that! The techniques that the NLP instruction manual gives us allow us to take control of our own minds and to develop the ability to use more of the functionality, of which we were previously unaware. NLP is about learning to learn the way your brain learns, rather than the way youve been taught to learn and moving beyond limitations. Suddenly, we become empowered to achieve anything we want in life and to help others to do the same. NLP is definitely the most precious gift you will ever receive. Understanding how we process the information that comes into our senses from the world around us, gives us the key to identifying behaviours within ourselves that we would like to change. NLP shows us how to make those changes, easily and effortlessly, enabling us to reach incredible goals and be the person we always wanted to be. NLP offers you the freedom of choice. So, what if you were to use your NLP knowledge and skills in all aspects of your life? Well, you will: · Master the art of elegant communication and get your message across all of the time · Improve relationships across all areas of your life, with a refreshed attitude and outlook · Handle challenges with confidence, lightness and humour · Have total confidence and self-esteem, no matter what you are doing · Realise that what you are is much more than you thought · Be able to assist others to create exciting change to their lives |
